Caregiver's Report to the Court: Using Your Caregiver Voice

January 23, 2025

Caregivers are important members of a child’s or youth’s team. Caregiver voice is valued.

One of the ways that caregivers can ensure that their voice is being heard is by completing. The Caregiver’s Report to the Court.

This report is shared with judges and commissioners who appreciate hearing directly from the caregivers. They want to know what a day in life of the child/youth looks like and even like seeing photos.

Caregivers should check with the child/youth's caseworker to find out when and how to turn in the caregiver’s report. Typically, the report needs to be turned in between two and four weeks before the next hearing. There are two versions of the Caregivers’ Report to the Court form, and you can use whatever version you prefer. The Alliance offers a coaching session on how to complete the caregiver’s report, and you can ask your CaRES mentor for help, too.
