History
Day of the Dead is a tradition celebrated on Nov. 1-2 to honor and commemorate the lives of the dearly departed. The tradition is popular among people in Mexico, Central America, and Latinos in the United States.
Terminology
Ofrenda (home alter): An offering that is made up of candles, skulls, flowers, photos and mementos, food and beverages to welcome the dearly departed.
Marigold: Bright Orange and yellow flowers placed at alters and graves that are believed to attract the souls of the dead.
Pan de Muertos (Bread of the Dead): A traditional Mexican sweet bread topped with sugary orange glaze
