Children and youth are invited to write an essay, poem, or submit a drawing for the 18th Annual Voices of Children contest.
The contest aims to honor children and their grandparents or other relatives who raise them. The poems, essays, and drawings must describe how living with a relative has made a positive difference in your life.
Entries will be judged in three age categories:
- Ages 5-7
- Ages 8-12
- Ages 13-19
The top two entries in each division will receive $100 from Twin Start Credit Union, a gas card, a one-year Discover Parks Pass, and a Washington State Parks Bucket Journal. Winners will be notified in early May and a ceremony will be held via Zoom.
All entries must be submitted or postmarked by April 15, 2021.
To be eligible, participants must:
- Be a Washington resident
- Between 5 to 19 years old

Additionally, Washington State kinship caregivers can also apply for the inaugural Voices of Kinship Caregivers Contest.
Kinship caregivers can write a poem or short essay that describes their positive experiences. Three winners will be awarded a $50 Amazon gift card.
