Juvenile Rehabilitation

The Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) finalizes a more comprehensive review process for transitioning eligible young individuals from secure residential facilities to community programs. 

Since January 2024, DCYF has conducted weekly multi-disciplinary committee meetings to assess placements for young people in community facilities.
 

Echo Glen celebrated 20 young people earlier this month, who graduated from a program dedicated to helping young people with self-improvement and building successful futures beyond Juvenile Rehabilitation. 

The Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) joins MENTOR Washington in celebrating the 150 organizations that provide mentorship opportunities for children and youth across the state, as part of National Mentoring Month. 

Young people exiting Juvenile Rehabilitation (JR) facilities will soon receive healthcare coverage prior to their release from secure residential facilities through the Washington Health Care Authority (HCA) Reentry Initiative.

Seahawks players once again surprised young people by spending the day at Echo Glen Children’s Center.  

Tyler Mabry, DK Metcalf, and Noah Fant kept their promise visited Echo Glen Children's Center for holiday festivities marking the second time they visited the facility, sponsored by UPower which provides recreational opportunities at Echo Glen.  

Four young people at Green Hill School are the latest cohort to graduate from the Trades Experience Pre-Apprenticeship (TEPA) program, which provides the knowledge and trade skills required to enter the construction industry.  

Young people at Echo Glen Children’s Center experienced music from the Seattle Symphony during a special performance that brought classical sounds to the juvenile rehabilitation facility. 

A podcast series focused on young people in juvenile rehabilitation, the programs they participate in, and the staff that support them was launched last week by The Bridge Music Project in partnership with the Washington Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF).

Hoping to learn more about Juvenile Rehabilitation and make a positive impact on the next generation, five Seahawks players spent their day off talking with young people at Echo Glen Children's Center.
