Four young people at Green Hill School are the latest cohort to graduate from the Trades Experience Pre-Apprenticeship (TEPA) program, which provides the knowledge and trade skills required to enter the construction industry.

During the 10-week course provided by ANEW, young people earn their Forklift, OSHA 10, and Flaggers certifications and participate in Professional Development classes to build resumes, network, and learn about trade careers.  ANEW partners with Juvenile Rehabilitation through the TEPA program by providing young people with the skills required on job sites and help to find jobs, transportation, and housing assistance upon reentering communities.

“With this knowledge, I can be self-sufficient in repairs and find valuable work in the trades sector. This class has strengthened me and given me good standing both in a facility and community,” said one graduate.

The Dec. 12 graduation was marked by smiles and pride shared by the young people and their instructors. This year, a total of 15 young people graduated from the TEPA program at Green Hill School.

“TEPA has given me a different view on the Trades and opened new doors with various companies and gave me something structured to go to every day,” said one graduate. “They helped me build a resume and identify all the skills needed to acquire a job."
