About Green Hill School

Green Hill School is a medium-to-maximum juvenile facility. Green Hill houses young men ages 17-24. Green Hill is one of three secure facilities run by the state. The facility has designated units for mental health, transition, safe harbor, and maximum security. Green Hill has an operational capacity of 180.

Information for Parents, Guardians, and Family

Our mission is to provide a safe, structured, and secure environment where young people can learn new skills, develop positive habits, and build successful futures. Green Hill School offers dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). DBT is used to teach skills that help young people handle emotions. DBT is used to help young people understand behavior expectations. Young people have treatment plans designed to give them the tools to successfully return to their communities and families. A day at Green Hill can include counseling, treatment groups, and school or programming.

Visitation

Visitation is on Saturdays and Sundays. Times are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Every other Friday is Level Four Visitation. Visitation times are based on living units and may change each week. Family members must sign in and pass through a screening process. Visitation outside these times must be pre-approved and for specific purposes only.
Visitors must bring an ID, necessary medication, and diapers or formula for small children. There are a small number of storage lockers. Visitors should leave all other belongings in their cars.

Educational and Vocational Programs

Young people can earn their high school diploma or their GED. School is provided by Chehalis School District. Vocational programs are available. Young people who have completed high school can take college classes.
