The job qualifications request “Minimum two (2) years responsible secretarial work.” Without her volunteer work at Children’s Hospital she wouldn’t stand a chance. Along with her experience, Joanna is banking that her competence and potential will shine through. Employers hardly ever find their ideal candidate and know that catching a rising star could pay off big for their organization. She presents herself as extremely competent, friendly, and well-suited for this job.

Dear Ms. Foster,
I spoke briefly with your receptionist Sandy last week about the Administrative Assistant position in your office. It looks like things are really expanding there. I think my knack for organization, thoroughness, and communication could serve you very well in this situation.
Responsibility comes naturally for me. During my two years at Children’s Hospital the staff learned they could trust me with details and to communicate with their customers in a professional way. As the ASB Business Manager I kept the books and inventory error free for the entire year and created reports that everyone could understand. Keeping details straight is my specialty.
I seem to thrive in busy environments where there are always more things to do than seems possible. I find this keeps me focused and before I know it the day is gone and it’s time to go home.
I have a special attraction towards the health care industry because it presents an opportunity to make such a difference in a person’s life at a time when things are not easy for them. For some reason, having this opportunity in my volunteer work makes me relentlessly cheerful which seems to help those around me as well.
I will call you next Tuesday, May 29th to check in and make sure you have received everything in good order and answer any questions you may have. I am really looking forward to speaking with you.
Sincerely Yours,
Joanna Marley
