Beginning Feb. 1, the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) will honor parents, caregivers, and advocates who have shown their commitment to help reduce child abuse and neglect. 

On Feb. 2, DCYF referred a case to local law enforcement involving a Green Hill employee and contraband.

In the event that there is a federal government shut down on Feb. 1, I want to be very clear, there will be no impact on DCYF staffing or services and payments will continue to be made to you as scheduled.

The Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) launched a new process to review contracts for services and programs at juvenile rehabilitation (JR) facilities to better serve young people and partners. 

The process, which began Jan. 1, creates a fair, clear, and standard process that aligns with the way contracts are handled by the entire agency.

Each April, people across the country join together during National Child Abuse Prevention Month to help raise awareness and promote ways we can all help to strengthen families in our communities. One of the ways we do this is through Pinwheels for Prevention.

Message to Child Care Providers Regarding Federal Funding and Provider Safety

We understand there are concerns surrounding child care subsidy payments following news reports of a federal funding freeze.

Echo Glen has officially earned the National Commission on Correctional Healthcare accreditation for meeting or exceeding national health care standards.

The accreditation means Echo Glen staff are providing young people with the same or better medical, mental, dental, and vision services than they would receive in their communities. 

After spending her teenage years in the foster care system, a Spokane teen pursued her degree and is using her lived experience to give back to her hometown and advocate for youth like her. With assistance from the Education Training and Voucher Program (ETV), Aubrey Shuman recently graduated from Eastern Washington University with her social work degree.
