The Washington State Legislature passed HB 2689 which updates child care center subsidy rates starting July 1, 2026. Rates will be set at the 85th percentile based on the most recent market rate survey published before May 20, 2025.
Starting July 1, 2026, providers will be paid based on the region where they are located:
- Clark County will be paid Region 6 rates.
- Benton and Walla Walla Counties will be paid Region 2 rates.
- Whitman County will be paid Region 1 rates.
Most rates will stay the same or increase. The following rates will decrease:
- School-age rates in Regions 1 and 4
- Infant rates in Benton, Clark, and Walla Walla counties
- Pre-school and school-age rates in Whitman County

You do not need to take any action. Authorizations will be updated automatically. Your July invoices will show the new daily rates.
