DCYF joins child welfare agencies across the country this month to acknowledge and celebrate caseworkers and those who support them during National Social Work Month.

This month is an opportunity to recognize caseworkers from across the state who go above and beyond to provide critical services to Washington’s children, youth and families.

“The public often hears about traumatic cases,” DCYF Secretary Ross Hunter points out. “They don’t hear enough about the caseworkers who day in and day out, come in to work ready to advocate, protect and support our families.”

Caseworkers perform challenging work that is of vital importance to the state of Washington. They are involved from the very beginning of each case, from intake and initial assessments to referrals and court hearings.

“Every single day, we have caseworkers who demonstrate their genuine passion for keeping children safe,” says Kwesi Booker, Assistant Secretary of Child Welfare Field Operations. “Social Work Month is our time to celebrate them for their continued hard work and dedication.”

DCYF would like to thank all caseworkers and the people who support the work they do!
