DCYF celebrated the graduation of 23 young people at Echo Glen Children’s Center and Green Hill School last month from a job-readiness program.
The My Journey Out Beyond (My JOB) program offers young people job training and professional development opportunities. Young people who participate in the program learn about different industries, careers, and connect with working professionals.
“I liked talking about work maturity skills and understanding strengths and challenges,” said one of the graduates. “I am thankful for this opportunity to learn more.”
The program is designed to prepare young people for employment while at facilities and when they return to their communities. Programs such My JOB provide tools and skills that help young people succeed in their futures and help reduce recidivism.
“Every young person deserves to step into their future with confidence, whether that means landing their first job or pursuing a lifelong career” said Juvenile Rehabilitation Director of Education Haley Lowe. “Programs like MyJOB ensure that youth in JR leave not only with skills but with the belief that they are capable, prepared, and ready to contribute to their communities.”
