During a recent court hearing, a biological mother whose children were previously removed from her care spoke up to thank a DCYF caseworker.
The mother felt that Queta Romero, a caseworker out of the Yakima office, was a huge part of her success to regain custody of her children and expressed her appreciation. The case was open for nearly four years but was dismissed last month, in part due to Queta’s support.
“[Thank you for] believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself,” the mother said during the hearing.
Tara Camp said she is proud to be Queta’s supervisor. Queta had weekly conversations with the mother and provided advice whenever she could.
“Queta’s engagement with [the mother] made a world of difference,” said Tara. “When she got the case, we were a month away from a term trial on all three of her children and instead Queta’s encouragement for her to not give up helped turn things around for her.”
Thank you, Queta!
