November is National Adoption Month and Nov. 23 is National Adoption Day.
National Adoption Month is meant to increase awareness of the need for finding a permanent and loving home for the thousands of children in foster care. National Adoption Day encourages judges to open their courts on or around the Saturday before Thanksgiving to finalize and celebrate adoptions.
In celebration, Gov. Jay Inslee proclaimed Nov. 22, as Adoption Day in Washington.
The Department of Children, Youth, and Families is partnering with the Washington Courts to host Adoption Day celebrations across the state throughout the month.
