Assistant Secretary of Child Welfare Natalie Green and Child Care Licensing Supervisor Candace Latimer were recognized for their significant contributions during this year’s Governor’s Outstanding Leadership Award ceremony.
Natalie was recognized for strengthening child welfare services, reducing staff turnover and increasing placement with kin.
“Her inclusive leadership style ensured that both children and families are supported, driving improvements in performance and fostering a positive work environment,” the Award Selection Committee said.
Candace was recognized for her development of “monitor bootcamp” that reduced the training period for child care licensing staff, achieving 100% compliance with federal monitoring requirements despite staffing shortages.
“Her leadership fosters a collaborative environment, strengthening partnerships with providers and ensuring child safety,” the Award Selection Committee said.
The awards originated in 1985 and for a time recognized state government professionals exemplifying exceptional leadership. Inslee expanded the criteria to focus on continuous improvement principles, as well as pro-equity and anti-racism efforts.
