Educational programs within Juvenile Rehabilitation (JR) range from high school to technical programs to college degrees that help residents plan for their futures. Education is a powerful tool that gives young people the skills to be successful. With the degrees and certifications earned, residents are given the knowledge to pursue careers and their passions once released. Graduations from these programs serve as a testament to education's transformative power.
On Jan. 19, 2024, six students from Oakridge Community Facility graduated with their high school diplomas from the Clover Park School District (CPSD) Open Doors Program. Four students were selected as graduation student speakers and gave powerful speeches detailing reflections of the past, their academic experience within the classroom, and future plans. All shared their plan to pursue post-secondary education or vocational programs that align with their goals and passions.
In December, Oakridge Community Facility recognized seven young people who graduated from AJAC’s Manufacturing Academy pre-apprenticeship program, earning industry-recognized certification in advanced manufacturing skills, knowledge, and abilities. In addition, these graduates earned 32 college credits from Bates Technical College.
In the same month, Centralia Community College and Green Hill School (GHS) celebrated the graduation of seven first-generation college students, earning their associate of arts degrees. Graduates shared that education is the key to success and encouraged their peers to follow their path.
These graduates empower their peers and themselves to plan for their futures with the help of education. We look forward to celebrating more graduates.
