The 2021 Legislative Session convenes virtually today, Jan. 11, and will last 105 days. While the unprecedented virtual structure presents many challenges, rest assured we will be hard at work communicating with lawmakers throughout the session.
As we head into the session, we’ll need to focus on doing the most good for the children and youth facing the greatest needs in Washington. We have many agency goals this year, including asking lawmakers to support the Governor’s proposal to expand least restrictive options; gaining support to meet the behavioral health needs for youth in Juvenile Rehabilitation (JR); and passing child and foster care licensing legislation that increases equitable access to services, creates innovative opportunities, and improves efficiencies for the agency.
We will keep you informed on the agency’s progress to successfully advocate for the children, youth, and families we serve. In the meantime, here are a few ways to stay connected during the remote session:
- Learn the legislative process from start to finish.
- Tune in to TVW to watch live broadcasts or recordings of hearings, work sessions, and floor activities.
- Explore the legislative website and look up bill information.
