As a result of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between Service Employees International Union (SEIU) 925 and the State of Washington, some Licensed Family Home Child Care Providers may qualify for health care and dental care benefits.
Who May Qualify?
You may be eligible if you:
- Are a licensed family home child care provider in Washington state
- Care for at least one child who receives subsidy through:

- Get paid through the Social Service Payment System (SSPS)
Other Requirements
To qualify, you must:
- Not be eligible for other health insurance coverage
- Complete an enrollment form

If you are approved, DCYF will take $30 each month from your child care payments to pay for the insurance.
You will also need:

- A valid social security number (SSN) or nine-digit individual tax identification number (ITIN)
Who is covered?
This coverage is only for the licensed provider. It does not cover:
- Spouses

- Employees of the child care program
What Coverage is Available?
Your options are negotiated through SEIU 925 and depend on where you live.
Plans include:
- Health Insurance: Kaiser Permanente (KPWA) or Aetna
- Dental Coverage: Delta Dental of Washington or Willamette Dental
Your $30 monthly payment will be automatically taken from your SSPS payment.
Do I Meet Eligibility Requirements?
You are eligible to enroll in health benefits if you meet all of the following requirements:
- You are a Washington state Licensed Family Home Child Care Provider
- You are not eligible for other health insurance coverage (such as Medicaid, Medicare, Military, family coverage, or other employment-based coverage)
- You care for children receiving subsidy and claim timely invoices to SSPS
- You request health care coverage
How to Enroll
To enroll, complete the Health Care Coverage Enrollment form.
Please note that in addition to your SSPS number, a valid social security number (SSN) or nine-digit individual tax identification number (ITIN) is required.
