Yen Lawlor was born and raised in Vietnam and came to the United States with her family at the end of the Vietnam conflict in April 1975. She attended Western Washington University in Bellingham, earning a Master of Education and a K-12 teaching certificate. In 1989, she started to work for the Department of Social and Health Services, Children’s Administration, as an on-call After-hours worker. In 1990, Yen began her work in Child Protective Services and in 2001, became an Area Administrator. She enjoyed and appreciated working and learning as a worker and supervisor for all programs from intake to adoptions and ICW units. In her personal time, Yen enjoys traveling abroad, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.
