I recently shadowed a caseworker in Bremerton, and it gave me an even deeper appreciation for social workers.

From helping a mother access diapers and services to meeting with youth to discuss safety in their home, this type of work is happening across the state every single day. I saw firsthand how each visit, conversation, and decision carries layers of complexity.
I am not going to sugar coat it; the work is tough. But we are fortunate to have hundreds of staff doing social work across child welfare and juvenile rehabilitation, making a positive impact on the lives of children and youth.

Recientemente acompañe a una asistente social en Bremerton; puedo decir que tengo mayor aprecio por los trabajadores sociales.

Desde ayudar a una mamá a obtener unos pañales y servicios hasta reunirse con jóvenes para platicar sobre seguridad en su casa. Este es el tipo de trabajo que sucede a lo largo del estado a diario. Vi de primera mano que cada visita, conversación y decisión conlleva grados de complejidad.
No suavizaré la realidad; el trabajo es duro. Pero somos muy afortunados de tener a cientos de personal que hacen trabajo social y un impacto positivo en las vidas de los niños y jóvenes en áreas como el bienestar infantil y la rehabilitación juvenil.
