From yoga to bible study to delivering birthday cakes, many of the programs at Juvenile Rehabilitation (JR) facilities not only rely on volunteers for programming, but to also show young people that they have support in their communities.

“It is so nice how many people come and volunteer here,” said a young person from Echo Glen Children’s Center. “We are lucky to have so many volunteers that care about us.”

Volunteers mentor, teach skills, support cultural programs, collect donation items, and tutor young people at facilities across the state.

“We love interacting with the guys at Green Hill,” said one volunteer. “Many of them inspire us with their growth and perseverance, in spite of many hurdles and challenges in their lives.”

DCYF would like to thank all the volunteers and volunteer-based organizations for helping young people build successful futures beyond JR.
