On Feb. 2, DCYF referred a case to local law enforcement involving a Green Hill employee and contraband.
Green Hill staff conducted a search, and contraband was found in the employee's workstation, including a vape pen containing THC and possible methamphetamines. The incident was reported to the Chehalis Police Department. In addition to reporting the incident, Green Hill staff provided law enforcement with evidence they collected, per protocol.
DCYF cannot comment on active personnel investigations, however, while under investigation, staff are immediately placed on administrative leave or assigned to duties that do not involve interacting with young people.
Like other state agencies, we follow the just cause process as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
"This report to law enforcement reflects DCYF's ongoing commitment to partner with local law enforcement to report crimes at our facilities," said Green Hill Superintendent Harold Wright Jr. "Our staff take safety seriously, are vigilant of fellow colleagues, and take the necessary steps to collect evidence to support law enforcement to further their investigation. I am proud of the work of the Green Hill staff who helped gather evidence and act swiftly."
