Family, Friend and Neighbor (FFN) Appreciation Week is celebrated yearly on the second week of September. FFN providers include grandparents, aunts and uncles, elders, older siblings, friends, neighbors, and others who help families by providing child care.
FFN care is the most common type of child care for infants, toddlers, and school-age children before and after school. This appreciation week is an opportunity to celebrate the over 2,000 FFN providers in Washington state.
DCYF wants to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the FFN child care providers caring for children and supporting families every day. We invite you to help us raise awareness and show gratitude for the invaluable contributions of FFN providers.
Thank you for stepping in when families need you and caring for children as if they were your own. The time, patience, love, and everyday moments you share make a meaningful difference to children and their families. Your support helps parents feel reassured and children feel safe, loved, and cared for.
As an FFN provider, you are filling a vital gap in the child care system by providing trusted, flexible, and accessible care when formal child care options may be unavailable, unaffordable, or just not the right fit.
FFN's make it possible for parents to work, go to school, and provide for their families. Your commitment strengthens families, communities, and the well-being of children. We are truly grateful and appreciate everything you do.
