Nanette has over 15 years of experience working with Tribal, state, and county government. She focuses on making sure policies and practices respect the government-to-government relationship with Tribes. She works to help agencies understand and respect Tribal sovereignty.  

She has a background in public health and policy. Throughout her career, Nanette has cared deeply about issues that affect children, youth, and families.  

Most recently, she was the Director of Policy & Planning at the California Consortium for Urban Indian Health. There, she worked on public health laws and programs across the state. 

She has worked at the Alaska Native Epidemiology Center and the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board. Nanette earned a master’s degree in public health from George Mason University.  

She is a descendant of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
